We are thrilled to announce that "The Blue Line Bar" is officially open for business! The Blue Line is a beer and wine bar located in the back half of our new Cashiers location overlooking beautiful Cashiers Lake.
The name comes from what locals call a small stream or creek. When you look at a map of Western North Carolina, you'll notice that it's covered in small squiggly blue lines that depict water. There are too many to count, but many of them hold trout.
Most interesting to trout fishers are those above approximately 2,800 feet in elevation. Brookies in these streams are the fish that have been here forever, the ones Harry Middleton wrote about in On the Spine of Time. Not just wild fish, but wild native fish. They’re mostly tiny and you may need to be in pretty good physical shape to get to them, but if it doesn’t stir your soul to its very foundation to fish for brookies in these streams and to marvel at how they’ve survived the loggers, the erosion, the warming, and the poachers, then maybe you need to trade your fly rods in for a set of golf clubs. Which of course, is why we named our bar The Blue Line.
The Blue Line is plenty spacious, with seating at our indoor bar, fly tying table, screened in porch, and outside patio. You can come to relax and socialize, get caught up on work, throw some horseshoes, or tie some flies. Be sure to follow @thebluelinebar on instagram and facebook to stay up to date on live music, and other events. Cheers!
